Below is a brief summary of my struggle to be a devout Christian in Canada. This is an alarm not only for all Christians, but for people of all faiths who wish to continue to believe, teach, exhort and worship freely.

The complete decision by the Supreme Court of Canada on the Human Rights Inquiry into what has become known as The Malcolm Ross Case which decided that a teacher does not have the right to express sincerely held, constitutionally protected (although controversial) religious beliefs on his own time. Malcolm Ross expressed his revisionist historical beliefs and his Traditionalist Christian Faith in several books, but it was unanimously agreed that he never presented his private beliefs in the classroom and by all accounts was a good teacher. The Supreme Court of Canada, however, accepted the opinion of the Human Rights Inquiry and based on no evidence assumed there was a possibility that a "poisoned atmosphere" was created. In his book, CROSS-EXAMINATION - Christianity on Trial, Malcolm Ross discusses the various Inquiries and Trials and through actual court transcripts shows the "evidence" on which he was found guilty.

Under the title UN Committee rejects Malcolm Ross Claim (00/12/06) found in 'News Releases', the New Brunswick Human Rights Commission issued a Press Release concerning the decision of the Human Rights Committee of the United Nations' to support the Supreme Court of Canada ruling.

Under a separate but related action, Malcolm Ross sued the New Brunswick Teachers' Association and cartoonist Josh Beutel for a presentation made at a Teachers' Workshop which was held in a synagogue in Saint John, New Brunswick. During this presentation, Malcolm Ross claimed he was held up to contempt and ridicule as cartoon after cartoon was presented showing him as incompetent, as holding identical views with Joseph Goebbels and Adolph Hitler where it was claimed they supported the extermination of Jews, and even showed him with a pencil stuck between his buttocks with the caption "Malcolm's Self-cruci-Fiction." His sincerity and Christian Faith were mocked in this presentation which was without precedent. Malcolm Ross won the Defamation Action against Josh Beutel, but it was appealed and the decision has not yet been handed down. In the Appeal, Beutel was supported by, among others, the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, the B'nai B'rith, and the Canadian Jewish Congress. Samples of the cartoons can be seen in the following website where it shows Malcolm Ross speaking at a meeting concerning Freedom of Speech.

CanadianFreeSpeech.com gives a brief insight into the struggle involving free speech in Canada, and shows some of the cartoons presented in the synagogue during the Teachers' Workshop sponsored by the New Brunswick Teachers' Association.
